Why IAM is my favourite three-letter word....

Identity is the new perimeter. Firewalls are just speed-bumps; credentials are the crown jewels. If you can’t prove who (or what) is touching your code, your contracts or your customer data, you don’t have a security programme—you have a prayer circle.
And if someone can hijack your brand in the EUIPO while you’re busy rotating AWS keys, you still lose. IAM + Madrid = twin moats.

PRO*T : Zero-Trust, Board-Friendly Playbook (now Madrid-proof)

1. Start with the HR feed – if Workday says “terminated”, every SaaS seat must vanish < 15 min. (I’ve seen ex-sales reps log in 90 days post-exit—judge was not amused.)

2. Passwordless > Password + MFA – FIDO2/WebAuthn keys or bust; SMS is litigation bait.

3. Privilege = Radiation – time-box, badge, record, justify. If you can’t explain it to a regulator in 10 words, it’s too much.

4. Tag everything – ABAC policies tied to data-classification labels (PII, PHI, trade-secret). Judges love granularity.

5. Continuous cert > annual panic – micro-certifications every 30 days; AI flags “Zombie-Rights” (access without usage).

6. Log immutably – append-only ledger (e.g., AWS QLDB, Azure Immutable Blob). Chain-of-custody wins cases.

7. Contractual IAM clauses – push MFA & log-retention obligations onto vendors; indemnity if they blow it.

8. Madrid Protocol layer – before you ship that shiny IAM dashboard, file “ZERO-TRUST BY PRITY” (figuratively) via Madrid. Lock trademarks in EU, US, CN, JP, IN, KR, AU, SG, CA, GB in one swipe, so a typo-squatter can’t register “.......” or “......” and phish your customers with fake SSO portals.
